Waggle’s Gaggle—how can you not giggle and smile when you hear a pattern name like that? One can just imagine how quilters flock to APQS Raleigh | Thread Waggle Quilting with all that creativity flying around!
Debbie Bigley, manager of the APQS longarm rental program at Thread Waggle Quilting, knows that inspiration can strike at any moment! The APQS Raleigh showroom rents time on 5 different APQS machine models. When she saw a donation quilt being loaded onto the APQS Lucey, she was inspired to come up with a quilt that had large flying geese blocks, which would go together quickly and allow spaces for quilting to be highlighted.
This quilt is a generous 76” x 76”, perfect for snuggling on the couch with popcorn during a binge-watching session, or spreading out for a picnic in the park! Debbie’s pattern shares a method for flying geese that yields four geese units at a time to really speed up the construction process.
Waggle’s Gaggle is the perfect mix of large flying geese units and negative space for quilting.
The design could easily be made more traditional, by keeping all the geese units the same color or by choosing not to add the sashing. But we love that the gaggle of geese has an odd goose!
