As a novice quilter, one of the hardest things to figure out is whether to use a pantograph for your quilting, or use the free motion approach.

When we saw the pictures of Kathy Plumley’s “Urban Oasis” One-Block Wonder, we fell in love with the colors, quilting and creative design choices. We decided to give Kathy a call to learn more about the quilt and her process of creating it.

In the U.S., red, white and blue take center stage for much of the summer as stars and stripes dominate decorating schemes. This quilt is simple and quick to make, and by quilting some of the elements with glow-in-the-dark thread the quilt can easily transition from day to night.
